What’s happened so far for 2008

This year has been a busy one for me. Heres a general run down: 

• I started teaching this year at Glenfield College, having finished my Diploma in Secondary teaching at AUT. I’m teaching Science and Biology to year 9 – year 12 (for the oldies 3rd form – 6th form). Its been a great year, but very busy! Teaching’s pretty tough, especially as the students here are all very diverse, from very different backgrounds. They are a great bunch though! Teaching’s pretty tough, as its lots of work, and pretty emotionally and physically draining. But I’m loving it – especially getting involved in the school community. I have been getting involved in anything I can – from coaching the basketballs teams, to running the school cross country to being a model in the fashion show! I have recently been offered a full time permanent contract for next year.
• Still playing and coaching basketball… I coached the Glenfield girls basketball teams, and played winter and summer in the North Harbour womans A-grade… not without injury! I had my first two broken bones this season – little finger and nose! Recently I have started assisting the coach of the North Harbour Under 17 representitive team. 
• Dog training: Brody and I are active members at North Shore Dog Training Club. WE help instruct obedience, and train in agility and heel work to music. We are also competing in obedience and agility. It’s pretty geeky, but I love it, and so does Brody. We have made some great friends through the club. 
• Family: Mum and Dad are doing well in Nelson (Mum is still recovering from a huge ankle op), Chris is living and playing Basketball in Singapore for the Slingers, and doing really well! But I am looking forward to having his home for the upcoming NBL season. 
• Matt and I are still living in the little flat in Rothesay Bay, North Shore. It’s pretty tiny, but good for the animals, and handy to everything. Matt’s working in civil engineering out of Orewa, and back into the motorbikes in a big way.
